"My favorite part of culinary is learning how to work as a team in a kitchen setting. This skill can be transferred to other areas of life." -Emma Landsiedel

Students in the Environmental Science class at New West High School have been busy learning how to grow lettuce and herbs in our hydroponics system set up at Buffalo Gardens. Since students returned from Winter Break, the water has been flowing and green has been growing! Students harvest and plant new seeds each week. The lettuce & herbs are used by our culinary classes and JCSD1 food service in our salad bar.
All of our initial seeds, nutrients, and supplies were purchased with the generosity of a grant from Rooted in Wyoming. Thank you to Rooted in Wyoming for your support in getting our hydroponic system up and running! Also thank you to Buffalo Gardens for providing space for setting up.

This year New West culinary students are working with Bread of Life Food Pantry in Johnson County to provide fresh meal options. Chef Sam and the New West students have delivered homemade soups, pretzels, salads, and gnocchi.
Thank you to the Ellbogen Foundation for your continued support the New West culinary program! Your support allows our program to grow and find ways to give back to the community.

Salad greens are available at Buffalo Gardens. $4 a bag, cash only. Limited quantities available today but we will restock next week! Salad greens grown and harvested by New West Students!

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas at New West! Making memories this holiday season with the annual Christmas tree cutting and decorating. NWHS students and staff spent Thursday afternoon finding the perfect trees, making ornaments, and enjoying hot cocoa, apple cider, and cookies.
