Welcome to New West, Johnson County School District 1’s alternative high school. We launched New West in 2019 to serve students struggling in our district’s traditional high schools. Through experience, research, and close attention to the needs of our community, we have developed into an essential component of public education in Johnson County.

I feel passionately that every student has the right to an excellent education, and that, when it comes to excellence in education, one-size definitely does not fit all. Johnson County School District 1 guarantees a learning environment where every student grows every day in his or her overall well-being and academic achievement. At New West High School, we understand that each of our students is on a unique educational path. We are wholeheartedly committed to meeting our students’ social, emotional, and academic needs and dedicated to helping them navigate their way to graduation and beyond.

I am looking forward to another great year at New West High School. Each year is different and presents its own surprises and unique challenges, which is part of what makes education so exciting.
