Shout It From The Mountaintop! BHS had three first place finishes at the Wyoming Poetry Out Loud and Poetry Ourselves competition.
Dovelynn Martinson is the state champion in the Wyoming Poetry Out Loud and will be traveling to Washington DC to represent Wyoming at National Poetry Out Loud in April!! She helped break Buffalo’s three-year streak of 2nd Place at State to bring home the trophy!
In the Poetry Ourselves (student-written original poetry) division, Kaylee Caturia took 1st place at state in the Performance category, and Aubrey Lemon took 1st Place in the Written Poetry category.
There are only three competition categories, and for the first time in our school’s history, we are bringing home 1st place in all three! Great job ladies!
Thank you to the Wyoming Arts Council and all of the judges and volunteers who helped to bring the event together and took such wonderful care of us these past two days!
Also, a huge thank you to Kira Wages for running our Poetry Out Loud program, and organizing our local competition every year! She does much to bring poetry to the lives of our students!
