COMMITMENT – Make your dreams happen

Take positive action. Follow your vision without wavering.

3rd- Kinley Stenson

Commitment is tough because it requires so many other traits such as: determination, passion, energy, positivity, confidence, and perseverance. Kinley has ALL of these and more! It doesn’t matter what we are doing, Kinley is all in. Whether a task is easy for her or frustratingly difficult, she never gives up - she is committed all the way. She tries her best and always has a good attitude. I never look over at Kinley that she doesn’t have a smile on her face, and she makes such a positive difference in our classroom. She is creative and fun, and seeing her work ethic rubs off on others and makes them eager to work and learn as well. I’ve always liked the quote that says, “Don’t stop until you’re proud!” - and I think this describes Kinley - she doesn’t wait around for a lot of approval and praise, she doesn’t let difficulties get in her way - she just goes for it and keeps at a task until she knows she’s done her best.

Congratulations, Kinley for being our 3rd grade key winner of Commitment!

4th - James Valadez

If commitment were a superpower James Valadez would be the hero the school didn’t know it needed—flying into the classroom with determination, a little bit of silliness, and maybe a backpack full of popcorn to sell.  When James  is a little nervous, he gets a little silly and goofy. The first time I met James, my first impression was that he was not the quiet and committed type. Little did I know, my first thoughts could not be more incorrect. The second it is time to get serious, BOOM. Goofy mode: OFF. Serious, ready-to-learn, best-effort mode: ON. Even when schoolwork feels super easy—he might be able to do certain skills with his eyes closed-he still gives 100%, plus a bonus 10% just for fun.  He loves a challenge. Hard math problem? Bring it on. Tricky writing assignment? He’s already thinking of a creative solution. If someone in class is struggling, James lends a hand to help a teammate or classmate when needed with superb patience.  He explains, encourages, and high-fives like a pro. And his friends? They know James is the real deal. He’s loyal, kind, helpful, and sticks by his buddies. He’s the kind of kid who can turn a normal game into an epic adventure.

Outside of school, his commitment is just as strong. In Boy Scouts, he is committed to learning skills so impressive he could probably lead our class out of danger and save all of the teachers. Need something fixed? He’ll try to fix it. Need help carrying something? He’s your guy. Need someone to tell a joke to cheer you up- James’ smile is contagious!

Whether he’s learning, helping, scouting, or just being an everyday kid, James shows unstoppable, superhero-level commitment (with a little added humor) each and every day!

5th- Callie Huntrods

Callie Huntrods is the perfect picture of commitment.  Callie gives 100 % to everything she does.  She is always eager to learn new things, and devotes all of her attention to the task at hand.  Callie is always quick to start an assignment and focuses completely  until it is finished.  When Callie comes across something that stumps her, she is quick to ask for help or uses her resources to figure out what she needs to do.

Callie is also very committed to doing the right thing.  Callie is a good friend to her classmates and encourages others to do the right thing.  When working with a group of classmates, Callie is committed to helping her fellow classmates understand information.  Callie is always one of the first to raise her hand when a question is posed to the class.  She is committed to sharing her understanding of ideas so that others  might be able to learn from her.

Callie also has a strong commitment to her extra activities. I have been told that she is quite the softball and soccer player.  I have had other people tell me that she gives her all to the sports she plays.   She shows strong sportsmanship every time she is out on the field.

Congratulations, Callie!  You are very deserving of the Key of Commitment! Your commitment will take you far in life!
