September - Students of the month

This Is It

Ellie Songer, 3rd grader - Ellie Songer is a great nomination for “This is It!” because of her infectious positive attitude and dedication to completion of activities; she has the ability to power through tough tasks and not get distracted by things she cannot change. Ellie could easily use many excuses to not complete work or give-up; instead, she comes to school and tries her best each and every day.  She strives to focus on what she is doing in the present moment and does not get distracted by other negative forces. I have never heard Ellie complain or attempt to get out of school work; she always says she is willing to try even though she might be physically or mentally exhausted. She does not want to miss out on anything, so she makes the most out of every moment. Ellie truly represents a “This Is It” attitude and makes me proud every day!!!

Madison Lawson, 4th grader - Madison is a young lady that lives in the moment, both in school and out of school. She focuses her attention on each moment, not getting distracted by her surroundings or her peers, and enjoying each precious moment she is given. When Madison is handed a task at school she gets right to it, using her time wisely, working in the present, because she knows that her time is important. When Madison is learning something new she is focused on it, because learning is meaningful to her. Outside of school Madison enjoys spending time with her friends and family, getting opportunities to do fun things with them. She does all of these things with a smile on her face, knowing these moments won't last forever. Whether she is demonstrating this key at school or home, Madison is deliberate in focusing on her NOW, which is a great lesson for all of us to learn from. Thanks Madison for your constant This Is It attitude!

Melanie Solorzano, 5th grader - Melanie chooses to work hard each and every day.  She is not one to take the easy path.  Melanie works to complete the work assigned to her and makes her best effort to accomplish her learning goals.  She values school each day.  Her motto is, "I can do anything, if I put my mind to it."  She also takes on responsibilities at home with a great attitude.  She cares for her family and loves them. It has been amazing to see how much Melanie has grown and learned in the 2 years I have known her.
