Accelerated Math Placement--Buffalo Schools

The document below outlines the guidelines for advancement in mathematics. It is a “working” document that will be reviewed on an annual basis.

The criteria are designed to identify very high achieving and highly motivated mathematics students, in order to give them the opportunity to participate in accelerated mathematics classes beginning in the 6th grade. Students must meet the eligibility criteria each year to remain in accelerated mathematics classes.

The eligibility process involves a point system with students receiving points in the following four areas:
  • MAP Test Scores
  • Average Grade in Mathematics
  • Teacher Rating Form
  • Available PAWS test scores
