MES Vision Mission Beliefs

Provide children with a strong foundation of basic skills through developmentally appropriate instruction, to provide an introduction to the arts, to foster a positive work ethic, to create a safe environment that fosters respect for all, and to spark an attitude of intellectual curiosity and an enthusiasm for learning that will enable our children to become productive, healthy, responsible citizens.

Regarding Children
  • All students can learn.
  • As children experience success, they will become more successful and be able to be challenged to meet their potential.
  • All children should have a positive self-concept.
  • A safe, positive and supportive atmosphere enhances learning.
  • Students should lead active and healthy lifestyles.
  • All decisions in our school should be based upon what is best for children.

Regarding Student Learning
  • Being safe, respectful and responsible are key to student learning.
  • All students should acquire basic skills in math and reading.
  • Students should be able to communicate effectively with both the written and spoken word.
  • Students should develop a lifelong enthusiasm for learning.
  • Students should develop a lifelong appreciation of and enthusiasm for the arts.
  • Students should be able to use cooperative and independent learning strategies.
  • Students should be technologically literate.
  • Students understand and practice appropriate citizenship skills.
  • Students should develop and apply effective problem solving strategies that will apply to both school and life. 

Regarding Staff
  • Teachers influence the school environment to promote student success.
  • Teachers are professionals who are responsible for making critical decisions regarding teaching and learning.  These decisions should  enhance student learning for greater student success.
  • All teachers will be capable and able to effectively implement the district's growth model.
  • All teachers will use a variety of assessments to validate incremental growth in student learning.
  • All teachers will be an appropriate example and role model in their interactions with students, parents, and staff.
  • Teachers have a critical role in making decisions regarding the direction and future of the school.
  • Teachers will continually seek to enhance their professional growth and development.
  • The school will be led by an instructional leader who continually focuses on student/staff learning, student/staff engagement, and student achievement.
